As fall is ushered in with cooler temperatures and falling leaves, many families will celebrate Halloween. Unfortunately, many Halloween decorations can be fire hazards, so we have a few tips to help you enjoy the season while keeping safe.

With a light flickering inside the pumpkin, fun and eerie images glow through the carvings. However, using a candle inside the pumpkin can be a real fire hazard, especially if the pumpkin could get knocked over into dry leaves or other decorations. Rather than using a candle, utilize an LED light or electric to create the ghostly glow from your pumpkin.

Hay bales, corn stalks and paper decorations create a fall atmosphere, but this decor is quite flammable. Keep any source of flame or heat at least 3 feet away for safety.
Using Candles safely during Halloween
Nothing quite conveys a spooky atmosphere the way the flickering light from a candle does, making candles popular for the season. However, having an open flame around decorations, in paper bag luminaries lining a driveway or sidewalk or on the porch where trick-o-treaters can brush up against them is very dangerous. Rather than traditional candles, consider electric or LED lights to create a similar effect without the fire hazard.
